LOCATION DATA / ROUTE TRACKING

Your Route Can Reveal More Than You Think.

Location data may reveal a person’s home address, workplace, regular destinations, meetings, daily routines, travel patterns, and frequently visited locations. When collected over time, this information can create a detailed picture of a person’s movements and habits. A hidden GPS tracker or other covert vehicle tracking device may therefore pose a serious risk to privacy and personal security.

Where Can a GPS Tracker Be Hidden?

The way a tracking device is installed depends on its design, power source, operating method, and how long it is intended to remain concealed. A hidden GPS tracker may be placed in different areas of a vehicle or integrated with other electronic components, which is why detection should not rely on checking only one obvious location. A professional vehicle TSCM inspection combines technical analysis with a detailed physical examination of selected areas to identify suspicious electronic components, concealed tracking devices, and other indications of unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

01 EXTERIOR

Under the Vehicle

External and underbody areas may provide opportunities for a tracking device to be attached without entering the passenger compartment. For this reason, a professional vehicle TSCM inspection may include a detailed examination of accessible exterior and underbody areas for hidden GPS trackers, suspicious electronic components, or other signs of unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

02 WHEEL ARCH / BUMPER

Wheel Arches and Bumpers

Areas that are easily accessible from the exterior of a vehicle may be used to conceal or quickly attach tracking devices without requiring access to the passenger compartment. For this reason, a professional vehicle TSCM inspection may include a detailed examination of wheel-arch areas, bumpers, and other accessible exterior sections for hidden GPS trackers, suspicious electronic components, or other signs of unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

03 ENGINE BAY

Engine Compartment

A tracking device or other concealed electronic component may be hidden among factory-installed modules, wiring, covers, or other elements within the engine compartment. For this reason, a professional vehicle TSCM inspection may include a detailed examination of selected engine-bay areas for hidden GPS trackers, suspicious electronic components, unusual wiring, or other signs of unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

04 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT

Luggage Area and Interior Trim and Interior Trim

A professional vehicle inspection may also include areas beneath carpeting, interior trim, and other removable finishing elements where concealed electronic components could be present. As part of a vehicle TSCM inspection, these areas may be checked for hidden GPS trackers, suspicious wiring, concealed recording devices, or other indications of unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

05 CABIN

Under Seats and Upholstery

A tracking device or other concealed electronic component may be placed inside the vehicle and hidden behind or beneath interior trim and equipment. As part of a professional vehicle TSCM inspection, selected cabin areas may be examined for hidden GPS trackers, suspicious electronic components, unusual wiring, concealed recording devices, or other indications of unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

06 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Vehicle Electrical Installation

Some tracking or surveillance devices may draw power directly from the vehicle’s electrical system instead of relying on their own internal battery. For this reason, a professional vehicle TSCM inspection may include verification of selected electrical components, wiring, power connections, and other areas where hidden GPS trackers, suspicious electronic modules, or unauthorised monitoring devices could be connected to the vehicle’s power supply.

07 OBD / DIAGNOSTIC PORT

Vehicle Diagnostic Port

We also inspect devices connected to the vehicle’s OBD diagnostic interface and other diagnostic infrastructure that could potentially be used for tracking, monitoring, or transmitting vehicle-related data. As part of a professional vehicle TSCM inspection, we may verify suspicious adapters, connected modules, or other non-standard electronic devices associated with the diagnostic system.

08 MAGNETIC

Magnetic Tracking Devices

Some GPS trackers are designed for quick, non-permanent attachment to a vehicle, allowing them to be placed without modifying the vehicle’s structure. For this reason, a professional vehicle TSCM inspection may include checks for magnetically attached GPS trackers, concealed tracking devices, and other suspicious electronic components that could be used for unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

02 / VEHICLE INSPECTION

We Inspect the Vehicle Layer by Layer.

A professional vehicle TSCM inspection is not limited to checking one obvious location. The scope of the examination depends on the vehicle’s construction, its history, the circumstances of the case, and the possibility that third parties may have had access to it. The inspection may include the following areas:

01
Vehicle Interior CABIN / INTERIOR
02
Luggage Area and Interior Trim LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT
03
Engine Compartment ENGINE BAY
04
Underbody and Wheel-Arch Areas UNDERBODY / WHEEL ARCHES
05
Unusual Wiring and Suspicious Electronic Components WIRING / ELECTRONICS
06
Active and Non-Transmitting Trackers RF / GSM ANALYSIS
DEVICE
SLEEP MODE / SILENT TRACKER

A GPS Tracker Does Not Have to Transmit Continuously.

Some tracking devices transmit location data in real time, while others may activate only periodically, enter sleep mode, or begin transmitting only when the vehicle starts moving.

Certain devices may also store route or location data locally and transmit the collected information only after a specific period or when particular conditions are met.

!

For this reason, the absence of an active transmission at a single point in time does not necessarily mean that no tracking device is present. A professional vehicle TSCM inspection should therefore consider both active and non-transmitting GPS trackers, combining transmission analysis with other technical and physical inspection methods.

Whoever Knows Your Route Also Knows Your Habits.

A vehicle’s movement history can reveal far more than its current location. Over time, location data may expose a person’s home address, workplace, regular meetings, frequently visited places, daily routines, travel patterns, and typical schedule. If this information is collected without authorisation, it may create a detailed picture of the driver’s movements and personal or professional habits. A hidden GPS tracker or other covert vehicle tracking device can therefore pose a serious risk to privacy and personal security. Professional GPS tracker detection and vehicle TSCM inspection can help determine whether a vehicle may be subject to unauthorised location monitoring.

WHEN TO INSPECT

When Is It Worth Inspecting Your Vehicle?

01 UNEXPLAINED ROUTE KNOWLEDGE - Someone Knows Your Routes Without a Clear Reason. A third party appears to know where you travel, which locations you regularly visit, or when you usually arrive and leave.
02 SERVICE OR REPAIR ACCESS - The Vehicle Was Left at a Garage or Service Centre. The vehicle was temporarily outside your control and accessible to third parties during servicing, repairs, diagnostics, or maintenance.
03 CONFLICT-RELATED ACCESS - Someone Involved in a Conflict Had Access to the Vehicle. A former partner, employee, business associate, or another person involved in a dispute had access to the vehicle.
04 FAMILY OR BUSINESS DISPUTE - An Ongoing Family or Business Dispute. Divorce proceedings, relationship conflicts, ownership disputes, commercial disagreements, or other sensitive matters may increase concerns about unauthorised tracking.
05 SIGNS OF INTERFERENCE - You Notice Signs of Possible Vehicle Tampering. Unexplained changes, disturbed trim, unusual attachments, or other signs suggest that someone may have accessed or modified parts of the vehicle.
06 UNKNOWN ELECTRONICS - Unknown Wiring or Electronic Devices Have Appeared. You notice unfamiliar cables, adapters, modules, or electronic components that you cannot associate with the vehicle’s standard equipment.
07 EXECUTIVE VEHICLE - The Vehicle Is Used by Company Management or Executives. Executive and company vehicles may contain valuable information about business travel, meetings, negotiations, and management routines.
08 INFORMATION LEAK - Meeting Information Appears to Be Reaching Third Parties. There is reason to suspect that information about confidential meetings, locations, or travel schedules is being obtained by unauthorised persons.

DEVICE FOUND / NEXT STEPS

GPS Tracker Found? Do Not Always Remove It Immediately.

What should happen after a GPS tracker or other tracking device is discovered depends on the circumstances of the case, the client’s objectives, and whether the device may have evidential significance. Removing or handling the device immediately may make it more difficult to document its original position, condition, or method of installation. Where appropriate, the next steps should therefore be considered carefully.

01 DOCUMENT THE FINDING - Record the Location and Condition of the Device. Document where the device was found and, where possible, its position and surrounding area before it is moved or disconnected.
02 PRESERVE THE DEVICE - Secure the Tracking Device Properly. If the device is removed, it should be handled and preserved in a way that limits unnecessary interference and helps retain potentially relevant information.
03 AVOID PREMATURE DISCLOSURE - Consider Whether the Discovery Should Be Disclosed Immediately. Depending on the circumstances, immediately informing the person suspected of installing the device may affect any further investigation or verification. The appropriate approach should be assessed individually.
04 PLAN THE NEXT STEP Consider Further Investigative or Legal Action Depending on the situation, it may be appropriate to consult a private investigator, lawyer, or other relevant professional before deciding what to do with the device and how to use the documented findings. The discovery of a hidden GPS tracker may be relevant to a wider investigation involving unauthorised vehicle tracking, privacy concerns, family disputes, business conflicts, or suspected information leakage.
FAQ / GPS TRACKER DETECTION

Frequently Asked Questions About GPS Tracker Detection and Vehicle TSCM

How Long Does a Vehicle TSCM Inspection Take? +

The duration of a vehicle TSCM inspection depends on the make and model of the vehicle, its construction, the number of built-in components, the amount of electronic equipment, and the technical scope of the inspection. Some vehicles may require a more detailed examination, particularly where several areas need to be checked or where both technical analysis and physical inspection are used. For this reason, the estimated duration is assessed individually before the inspection begins, based on the type of vehicle and the circumstances of the case.

Do You Inspect Company Vehicles? +

Yes. We inspect private vehicles, company cars, fleet vehicles, and vehicles used by company management or senior executives. A professional vehicle TSCM inspection may be particularly relevant where a vehicle is used for confidential meetings, business travel, executive transport, or other activities involving sensitive company information. Depending on the circumstances, the inspection may focus on hidden GPS trackers, suspicious electronic components, recording devices, and other forms of unauthorised vehicle monitoring.

Can You Inspect a Motorcycle or Another Type of Vehicle? +

Yes. Depending on the construction of the vehicle and the circumstances of the case, we may inspect motorcycles and other types of vehicles for hidden GPS trackers, suspicious electronic components, and other forms of unauthorised monitoring. The feasibility and scope of the TSCM inspection are assessed individually, taking into account the vehicle’s design, accessibility of key areas, installed electronics, and the suspected type of tracking or surveillance device.

Can a GPS Tracker in Sleep Mode Be Detected? +

Potentially, yes. The absence of an active transmission does not necessarily mean that no tracking device is present in the vehicle. Some GPS trackers may remain in sleep mode, transmit only periodically, activate when the vehicle moves, or store location data locally before sending it later. For this reason, a professional vehicle TSCM inspection should not rely solely on detecting active RF or cellular transmissions. Depending on the circumstances, the inspection may also include a detailed physical examination of the vehicle and checks for hidden electronic components, non-transmitting trackers, and other concealed tracking devices.
